Digital copywriter - full description

Responsibilities:

As a digital copywriter, you’ll produce written content for webpages, social media and internal documentation. Your job will be to engage the reader and motivate them to do something, such as buy a product or service. You may also write copy designed to convey valuable information about a brand, industry or issue. You may also be known as a digital content writer.

The position does not require liaison with clients, and you will work from a home office (remotely).

Your key responsibility will be to research, write, edit and hand over a minimum of 15 written content pieces on various subjects, averaging 1500-2000 words each, per month.

You will also learn to use internal digital agency tools following the instructions, carry out projects scoping and create clear briefs, to ensure you understand what the client wants.

The content and style of individual writing assignments depend on their purpose. Whether you intend to sell, educate, or inform through the written content, you will need to understand the client’s industry, target audience, and research interests.

The research you will be doing will enable you to identify the main thing you want the reader to feel and do, and how to communicate this powerfully.

Further, you will work with creative teams to ensure that the web pages’ visual elements complement the words.

You will also learn how to identify fresh and exciting angles for your articles, research other digital content, such as images and video and input your work to the clients’ content management software (CMS).

Finally, we expect you to work with your team to review your work’s impact and assist with business pitches to win new clients or projects.

Skills:

You will need to have:

  • the ability to learn quickly with an open mind and adapt new information;
  • strong listening skills so that you can understand what clients want and effectively develop project briefs;
  • excellent writing ability, including the capacity to write in different styles and to other people’s direction;
  • good research and analytical skills to gain an accurate understanding of the subject.

You will also need the organisational ability to manage multiple projects, often to tight deadlines, and often use a creative approach, both in coming up with ideas for new projects and for getting a message across in an original way.

We expect you to work independently and flexibly and display good attention to detail, especially in proofreading your own and others’ work.

You’ll also need to communicate quickly and effectively with the rest of the team. As this is a digital copywriting role, you are expected to have a basic appreciation of digital marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO) and necessary IT skills to learn how to use various digital tools quickly.
